IFTF – Integrated Fault Tree FMEA Software

IFTF was based on a program developed at Ciba Corning. IFTF was started from scratch using visual basic dot net and released in 2004. The program integrates FMEA and fault trees and was intended for hospitals. Hospitals inspected by the Joint Commission must perform at least one FMEA each year.

Prior to release IFTF was offered to hospitals for free as a beta product for testing. Based on some of the requests to get the program, I knew there would be problems. People emailed me saying they needed to “streamline” the FMEA process as it was taking way too much time. I knew that IFTF would not help these people as IFTF opens to a blank screen. It is up to the users to fill in the fault tree.

Thus, the user need for a program to speed up the FMEA process was not met by IFTF. Hence, after (as of 2009) 5 years, I have decided to discontinue selling and supporting IFTF.
